This is my first time. I made a $5 donation. I own a 95 Civic LX with 107k miles. During normal accelleration I can hear the valves clatter. A friend recommended that I put 1/2 quart of transmission fluid in the oil to clean the area around the valves. Is this a good idea? If not, what is the solution to the problem and what kind of estimate can I expect. Thanks...Dan

NO, do not put the tranny fluid in to the car engine. That would really thin the mix and you do not want to do that.

How have you determined that it is valve clatter?

You also need to give me some more information such as how many miles are on the engine and anything that you know leading up to the determination of the valve clatter. Does it use oil, does the coolant sometimes disappear without leaving a puddle anywhere, and is there a loss of power?
