My 21 year old son has a 1991 Honda Civic with many miles on it. He has put a great deal of work into repairing it himself the past few years. The other day the timing belt broke (it had been replaced once before). He spent hours replacing the belt but, unfortunately, it did not run. The engine may be damaged. He now wants to try to repair the damage,replace the cylinder head or buy a used engine and replace it himself. I understand his not wanting to let the car go because of all the work he has put into it, but question whether it is wise to put money into rebuilding or replacing the engine. I wonder if it might be wiser to put the money into another car. I need to help financially in either case, and want objective advice as to the best course of action. I would appreciate your help. :D
