I bought a new 2009 civic and once owned a 1994 civic and never had this problem. The clutch in the new car, when im accelerating at a high rate and shifting from 1st to 2nd, seems to not grab as it should or something of that sort. Almost feels like a bouncing sensation. I do not have this problem when I shift at normal everyday speeds. If this a faulty clutch or just me?

The higher the gear you are in, the more torque you put on the clutch. If the clutch is "slipping" it should do it more in 4th than in 1st or 2nd. The bouncing could be what is called "clutch chatter" where the clutch is trying to slip. With only 3400 miles on the vehicle, it should easily be covered under warranty. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your quick response. Is clutch chatter more of an issue under harder acceleration or does it happen under daily driving? Again, it almost feels like a hesitation of the clutch and the car kinda of shutters. I apologize but this issue is kind of hard to describe. Thanks again.

Clutch chatter is caused by a warped clutch disc or pressure plate and is "most" noticeable when starting out in 1st gear from a dead stop. After that, you will only feel chatter if you "slip" the clutch as you upshift. You will seldom feel it on downshifting.
