2006 Honda Civic How to Check and replace connecting rod be

I am wondering how to replace the connecting rod bearings on a 2006 Honda Civic. Also, what do I check and how, to see if there is further damage from the shavings from the bearings. How do I check to see if the crank shaft has been damaged, and how do I flush the engine? Can I do all of this by removing the oil pan? Do I have to replace a gasket for the oil pan? Thanks.

Replacing a failed connecting rod is a patch to a bigger problem. I am guessing that you have a rod knock that got you to find the loose connecting rod that you intend to replace?
This is an assumption from what you posted, so forgive me if I am wrong.
Does the rod have play in it? Did you find metal in the oil? If so, is it silver or a brass type of metal? This will tell you what level of bearing deteriation you have.
The biggest thing to take into consideration is how much time or mileage you want to get out of the motor. There are several ways to repair or replace a motor based on the aforementioned and your budget.
It sounds like you want to do it right and you really like the car. Let me know where I assumed wrong and right.
