Hi I have a '06 Honda Civic, I have noticed that my front end feels like it's riding on gravel when I'm not. Very rough ride. I have around 98,000km or 60,894Miles, on my car. I took it into my local Honda dealer for service and they recommended to me that I need new front struts, shocks, and control arms. I find this odd that I would need to replace these so soon. I don't drive the car very hard at all, just normal everyday use. How can i tell if these things really do need to be replaced.

Hi Nietmann,

To know if the items concerned are faulty, a visual inspection is necessary. Control arms have bushes and ball joint, check for wear and tear.

For struts, look out for leaks and the normal procedure is to do some bouncing test. Bump the vehicle at each corner and note how fast the vehicle stops bouncing. The longer it takes to stop indicates the weaker the struts are.
