When car is at idol and the A/C is on...when the A/C compressor kicks in I get a squeaking noise. When the A/C compressor disengages, it goes away or when I increase the rpm's or start to drive. Any ideas of what might be happening?

Is the drive belt the same thing as the timing belt? Belts and water pump were changed at 83,000 miles. How do I go about getting the drive belt tightened?

Thanks!

Hi refpoman,

No, the tming belt is inside the cover and will not squeak as the are toothed.

If your model uses a single serpentine belt, it is self adjusting, you need to replace the belt or tensioner bearing.

If it has 3 belts, then you will find the adjusters for

Alternator on the bracket.
Power steering on the pump.
AC on the idler bearing.

Hello, I have a 2001 Honda Civic Coupe with the EXACT same problem. Have you tried adjusting your drive belt yet? If so, did this fix the problem? Please keep me updated!!
