My 2002 Honda Civic overheated today and I had to get it towed home. I'm not sure what the prob is. I've been researching online and my honda just like many others has had a problem with the heater not working for 6 months now and my boyfriend had it overheat on him on a seperate occasion. All the answers I've found online have been similar suggestions from others but no definate answer on what is the problem just people guessing the radiator, hoses, air in line, water pump, checking coolant for leaks and filled enough ect. does anyone know since this problem seems to be the same amongst 2002 civics an actual fix that has worked or what the definate problem is?

There is no 1 common problem that I can tell you for your vehicle. The fact is, all of the items above are the common faults of overheating on your vehicle. So unfortunately you will have to check all of them.

Check the thermostat to see if its closing, check to make sure you aren't loosing coolant, make sure the radiator is not clogged or the fins are not covered by debris and leaves, etc.
