I have just finished rebuilding my engine and replacing the head with one from a 96 EX with vtec. This is often referred to as a "mini-me" swap. I had to rewire the plug to the IACV, 3wire to 2wire conversion in the engine compartment and also moved pin B6 to B23 and removed pin B15. The ECU is throwing an error code 14 (IACV) and the engine will not start unless I put my foot on the gas. It runs OK at 2000 rpms, but below that it lopes like a V8. The head just had a valve job and I rebuilt the bottom end at the same time, it also has been cammed but this cam works fine from 900-7500 rpms. So the lope issue is not being caused by that. Where can I start troubleshooting this?

What ecu are you using? obd2a/b vtec? or an obd1 p28/p06 with a socket/chip?

Well, I realized that I had inadvertantly reinstalled the original computer... which won't run this mod. I am using a P2P ECU from a 99 EX. I've got the KS wired in, but I'm still waiting for pins to hook up the VTPS and the VTS. It's running again, but won't idle. Going to go over the timing and see what I can make it do.

Well yeah the original y7 ecu uses a 3-wire iacv system it won't work with a 2 wire IACV.

Are you still throwing the iacv code? code 14 I believe?

If you start the car with your foot slightly on the gas does the car run fine? If so you have an iacv problem. I will try and find the proper pins for an obd2b ecu. I usually do this trick on obd1 ecu's so it might be different.

And for your VTS B12 is the pin on OBD2B ecu's (so 99-00)

c10 is your VTPS pin. For the ground off that sensor you can just use a chassis ground.

Yeah, I had the pinouts already. Going to replace the plugs and wires since they look pretty fouled. When I switched out my P2E with the P2P I also moved B6 to B23 so that the IACV would work. Not sure if that could be what's messing things up, but I was told that was part of the 3wire to 2 wire conversion.

I should note that the one wire on the IACV was reading 11.8v and the other was fluctuating like 1.6v. Maybe I'll just do away with the IACV and set the idle with the throttle stop.
