1999 Honda Civic Clutch Master or Slave Cylinder

I am having problems with my clutch on my honda. I attempted to bleed the system at the slave cylinder on the bellhousing of the transmission. I pushed the pedal to the floor loosend the bleeder let the fluid come out(solid stream, no air bubbles) and then closed the bleeder and released the pedal from the ground. plenty of pressure when you push the pedal but will not engage any of the gears. reverse or first for sure anyways. Any ideas on what it could be or what it is. Or any procedures I'm doing incorrectly>??

Hi there,

If you have good pedal pressure and you can see the slave cylinder moving, your problem will be with the clutch, you may be due for an o/haul

Hi aschnaub,

Mark is correct but if the car has been lying sround for a long time, the disc could be stuck to the flywheel.

Engage first gear and with clutch depressed, start the engine, keep handbrakes on and brakes fully applied. Make sure there is nothing in front of vehicle and if the clutch is stuck, you might need to crank the engine a few times. When it comes off, there could be a very loud bang.

Actually I found out the problem. I failed to give you all the information needed on the situation. I replaced the slave cylinder today and the cylinder and clutch fork are moving. Pedal is a little soft but have found bleeding and bleeding has helped quite a bit. The problem however lies in the cv halfshaft. I work at oreillys and this would be the first time tackling a cv shaft and hyd clutch bleed. The reman cv shaft was not engaging the transaxle therfore the transaxle wasn't operating correctly. I swapped out a different reman shaft and gave her a lil smack and she seated right on in the housing. Once in the air the wheels turned perfectly thus solving my headache that was my fault in the beginning. DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS, god I can hear my dad saying it now. But I do have to admit, bleeding the hyd system can be somewhat of a b*tch. But it all works out in the end. Thanks guys/gals?, now i know where to get future answers to problems.
