I just had some major work done -- front brakes, rear brake drums, new clutch. The car has been rattling for ages (under the driver or thereabouts) but finally the muffler gave out. I had the muffler replaced and suddenly the car is overheating -- redlining. I took it off the road right away and will have it looked at tomorrow. Radiator fan is working, oil is good with a recent change, water pump has coolant in it. Could it just be the thermostat? And would thermostat problems also be indicated by the fact that the speedomoter hasn't worked consistently for months? Also, the O2 sensor has been disabled; that is, it's broken and we decided not to replace. Any ideas before I take the car to the shop tomorrow are appreciated.
