Transmission problem
1998 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

The car will go into gear when you first crank it. It will go forward, and in revese. But less than 15 seconds later it will not do either. The transmission will physically go into D and Reverse...but the car doesn't move. Maybe a solenoid i was told? Can't get it to the parts store to read the check engine light, so I'm at a loss for ideas. Transmission fluid is good, as a buddy and I have just checked all the basics. Any help would be great! -Bryan

Hi Bryan,

At the OBD II diagnostic connector, bridge terminal #4 and # 9 and turn ignition on to count the D4 light blinking to get the trouble code.
