Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Honda Civic 4 cyl 126301 miles

On June 14, 2010 I went to Firestone for an oil change, they informed me that I needed a new radiator cap (my car has never had heating problems), need to remove and replace valve cover gasket and spark plug tube, and install distributor O-ring. For all this they want to charge $224. A lot of these items I can purchase at Auto Zone for more than 1/2 what they want to charge. How do I know if any of these things actually need to be done. (I am female and they need to make $$). It is now September 8, 2010. My car still runs fine. Only time it has a little trouble starting is when the gas gauge is low. But it always starts and it always goes. If these things need to be done, can I do it?

The gaskets are due to oil leaks (which are common problems). The rad cap is just a maintenance item that should be done roughly every 80,000mi
