1995 Honda Civic Backfire through intake

My car backfired through the intake and shot a flame out of the hood. Now it is idleing at around 3200 rpms. What could be the problem? Could it be more than just the idle air control sensor?

Hi Erickamp09,

The backfiring could have dislodged something to cause vacumn leakages and the high idling speed.

Check the Fast Idle Thermo Valve under the throttle body and IAC.
