I have a 95 Civic with 128K miiles on it. Oil pressure light was coming on intermittently and garage replaced the sensor. When they test drove the oil pressure actually dropped while accelerating. Light still comes on occassionally.
Today car stalled on my son. (oil pressure light had been on for much of the day). Very hard to restart. Clunking kind of noise coming from the engine on the right side.
I'm wondering what could be wrong. Here's my plan of attack.
1. Drain oil and look for metal shavings and/or other stuff.
2. Remove the head cover to see if there is something obvious that appears to be wrong.
3. Pray either 1 or 2 leads me to what needs to be done.
Here's my question. If the oil pump is bad, what is involved in replacing it? I only need the car until he goes to college in 4 months and I don't want to invest much money in repairs.
