Great. Thanks for that.
It looks like there are several engines used in the Civic DX. The engine serial number is located on exhaust side of engine block, below cylinder head near bellhousing. The first 5 characters of engine serial number identify engine type. Please take note of your serial number before following instructions below, although the tightening sequence remains the same, the torque specs are different for each engine type in the Civic DX.
Here is a video to help you see how to use a torque wrench.

what is the head bolt torque sequece and ft/lbs of torque on a 93 hond civic 1.5l
I just completed a valve job, including re-surfacing the cylinder head. The head bolts were torqued properly according to the Chilton's Repair Manual. My question is: Should the head bolts be RE-TORQUED after the initial run-in period of 500-1000 miles?? The Chilton's Manual made no mention of that.

Normally not unless the instructions with the head gasket specified differently. Was the head checked for warpage? If it had less than .002" irregularity, resurfacing isn't necessary but it will help the gasket bite and seal better. If there was a lot of warpage, overhead cam heads have to be heated and straightened, otherwise the cam journals will still be out of alignment.

I have a 1.6 16v esi v-tech civic here and i have just stripped the head down to fit a new head gasket. The engine has 146,000km on it. I was looking to know what the torque settings are for the bolts on the head and what is the sequence for tightening them???
