1993 Honda Civic spongy brake pedal that slowly goes to flo

My brakes are spongy and will go slowly to floor when coming to a full stop. I have been told by two different shade tree mechanics -- 1. said master cylinder needs replacing 2. said cv joint bad will cause brakes to be spongy.

I haven't found anything online reflecting cv joint will
cause spongy brake. What do you think?

It is your brake master cylinder. Stay away from the second guy. Be sure to bleed your entire system when you are done.
