1993 Honda Civic Ignition

when turing the ignition on, nothing happens, no sound no cranking. After turning the key on and off 2- 5 times the car will start.

Double check the battery and its connections make sure its clean and tight. No battery voltage to the ignition switch-nothings gonna happen.

The battery posts were cleaned and all connections were checked. Like I said, we also had a tech do a dianoztic on the charging system, the battery, the starter and the distributor.
If it is the coil, I would like to know where on the car it is klocated and if I can replace it

What is it doing -is it cranking over and refuses to start or still nothing when you turn key to start I need to know this before I continue

Subject: 1993 starting issues
the sound is hard to describe - there is no sound coming from the starter, in other words it doesn't crank at all. There is a slight click sound when the key is first turned on to try and start the car but no noise or sounds afterwards (in other words if I held the key in the on position there would be no sound what so ever). After the 2nd or fifth try the car starts
So I am not sure if it is the starter not engaging or it is the ignition.
It seems that the diagnostic would have determined if the starter wasn't working properly, but it checked out. The day we brought it in for the diagnostic, after we paid our bill went to the car, the same thing happened, turn the key on, nothing, no sound, nothing... then the third time it started.


Sounds like the ignition switch is failing or problem with the neutral safety switch at transmission also called inhibitor switch
