1990 Honda Civic 1990 honda civic dx anti freeze leak

anti freeze is leaking from somewhere around the thermostat area. when it first happened the motor overheated (while there was coolant still in it) & smoke came from the exhaust & under the hood. There was antifreeze all over the engine. After i got home, i refilled the radiator with coolant, and it no longer overheated, but the motor & exhaust still blew out smoke. there was and still is no heat coming from the vents, as well as a coolant smell.
