1988 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

hi. im interested in purchasing a 1988 honda civic. problem is the owner believes the automatic shifter cable is stretched. Would this create a large problem with actually driving the car, would is allow the car to move and would it be expensive to fix?

Hi hoffa23,

Shift cable is listed at $347 and labor time is 1.3 hours.

If the cable is bad, you might have to overshift slightly and wiggle the gearshift to get the correct position. If you are able to get the correct gar position, then there would be no problem whatsoever.
