Road Noise - Humming Noise - 2002 Honda Accord

Check the skirting under the front of the car for looseness. Tighten as needed. Do you have wheel covers or alloy rims? The covers could be loose and making noise. Check other components for being secure. For instance, heat shield on the exhaust, etc.

Thanks. I am not 100% sure what you mean by skirting. But I will take a look. I have alloy wheels, so not a possible hubcap issue.

Could this have anything to do with bearings? That is one possiblity I read about.

The skirting is the plastic shielding under the front of the car. Sometimes it gets caught on things and will vibrate.

Now you mention the speeds of 35-40 and then 65-80. The latter you state is the loudest but what happens in between? No noise?

Do a tire rotation putting front right on right rear and left front on left rear. While you have the tires off look at the shielding for the wheels to ensure that it is not pushed in a touching the rotor rotation. Rotate the wheels while in the air and feel for any detectable drag, noise, etc.

Well, 35-40 is about when the noise is noticalbe. And it only gets worse as the speed increases. It certainly is there the whole time all the way up to the 80 mph mark.

I have the same problem with my 2001 Civic. I have a question posted about this issue. I hope we can get this problem solved. It's an annoying sound and it might be a safety/axle issue? I hope I'm wrong though.

So I took my car in to a mechanic. They found out it was the rear right bearing. They replaced the whole bearing...case and all and that got rid of any more noise. What a difference. Anyways...I hope this helps anyone with the same issue.
