This problem has kind of progressed and become worse. It started as the left turn signal would just remain flashing for too long and even though the signal handle or staulk was in the "neutral" position, it would remain clicking away for a minute or two after a turn was completed. Then it sometimes would do it whenever it wanted when you were just driving down the highway. Thought it might be the relay so got a new one from Oreilly but it didn't quite fit b/c of some plastic so trimmed that off and the problem was the same. Put the old relay back in and it seemed to be okay for a few minutes of the drive, then started up again. Then the other day, the signals went crazy and from the outside it looked like cop car turn signals. Was looking under the dash and it was sunny and noticed a wisp of smoke coming up from the dash. Disassembled and reassembled the switch and only thing I can think of is that the grease on the outside part was whiter and the inside grease was darker (could that mean burnt?). Any ideas? Thanks a ton!
