I am getting a high pitched whistling noise whenever I accelerate. The noise abates when I let off the gas. It's very annoying. Anthing serious, or do I just have to put up with it?

Hi zesl01,

You would have to verify where the noise is coming from and what component is causing it. It could be anything from a loose/worn belt to a faulty bearing somewhere.

When noises are abnormal, something must be wrong somewhere and it is best to get it checked. Without the physical car, it would not be possible for us to identify the cause and recommend rectifications.

Hi zesl01,

Did you ever get this question answered? I noticed this when I first bought my 2006 manual 4 cyl Accord, but I assumed it was "normal" (one of many design flaws I've noticed). I think the high-pitch whine is too high for most people over 35 to hear. It usually happens when my speed is kind of slow for the gear I'm in.

Anyway, I'm just curious if you have any answers!

Thanks,

Neal
