2005 Honda Accord Accelerating

Symptoms indicates possible fault with the CV shaft inner joints. Get them checked for broken boots and lack of lubricants.

Mechanic told me it was the axle and that it was bent. had to replace, cost $300.

Unless there are impact damages, if not the axle would not get bent.

The CV shaft is the axle shaft.

should i ask to look at the part that is being replaced to see the dent?

Yes you can but might not see much as it is not going to be noticeable.

That is the part that I suspect to be faulty as well so the repair is logical.

I have the exact same problem with my 2004 Accord. After having the alignment checked, the tired balanced and roated, I was told I needed to replace the Axle shaft assembly. The quote for having both done was $538.

I have 90k miles on the car. The vibration starts at aout 58 mph and stops at around 65 mph. There is also a less notiable vibration at around 25 mph.

1. Will replacing the axel shaft assembly really solve the vibrating problem?

2. What will happen if I don't replace the axel shaft assembly?

Yes, the symptoms do indicate possible faults with the axle shaft.

If they are the cause, replacing them would solve the problem.

Continued used of the vehicle with the excessive vibration can damage the trans axle bearings.
