Tires and Wheels problem
1992 Honda Accord 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I cant figure out how to get the tire off my 91 accord. There seems to be a huge lug nutt in the center that i cant budge, even with the right size socket. I there a special tool or trick to getting the tire off?

Hello,

If you have removed the 4 or 5 lug nuts from around the larger nut in the center , which does not need to be removed to remove the tire, it may be rusted on and you will need to beat around the back side of the rim with a mallet, being Very Careful not to damage the rim.

That center nut you speak of if for the CV Axle.

This seems to be silly, but I had a flat on the right front wheel of my 99 Honda Accord EX-V6 today. So I jacked it up and unscrewed the 5 nuts. However, after struggling for almost an hour, I just could not get the wheel off the car. So am I missing something? The manual does not clearly mention whether I need to get the wheel cover off or not. Would appreciate some enlightenment on this supposedly simple problem which one should be able to do by the side of the road!!

take the hubcap off and loosen up the bolts on the lugs! next if you have a sledgehammer or post maul hit the outsides of the tire with it jacked up and that shoudl loosen the tire, it probably has the steel is corroded on the rim onto the wheel asssembly a torch and a light tap could knock it loose!
