My dealer keeps telling me I must change the timing belt and water pump b/c of the age of the car, not
the mileage. Is this true, or is just trying to make money off me? Thanks.

Hello,

Do you know if they removed the Inspection cover?

If they did and the belt had cracks or looked like it was starting the stretch then you may want to have it done.

But, if they didn't look at the belt and are suggesting you replace it then I would either remove the top section of the belt housing and inspect the belt or have another shop take a look.

One other thing, with the age and the low mileage how ofter is the car driven and were is it parked?
