Greetings...you nailed my last problem, fingers crossed on this one.

My passenger door won't unlock...unless I put the key in the door force the turn a little bit (fear the key will break) and pull the handle.

Keyless entry won't work...can't pull the 'knub' up from inside, nor does the inside power open button work.

The key will work, kind of, won't unlock on it's own, I have to pull the handle, while pushing on the key.

I read another post about an actuator issue and I would love it to be a $70 replacement...but mine seems tougher, it will not work with the key alone.

any clues appreciated, Amy

Hello

Based off of what you have said, I still have a couple of questions. Is your Accord a DX Sedan, EX Coupe, EX Sedan, LX Coupe, or LX Sedan?

With that – when you push the key fob, does it try to do anything at all or make a sound?

When you use the door switch, again, it try to do anything at all or make a sound?

If I understand you correctly it is totally dead, no noise, no function at all even if it was a shake?

If you can get back with me on those answers maybe we can narrow it down some.

thanks for the quick follow up. It makes the 'noise' because the drivers side door still opens with keyless entry...but not on the passenger side. So there is no noise or clicking on the passenger side

The car is a 1999 Honda Accord 2-Dr Coupe, manual trans 102k miles.

When I pull the lock 'knub' on the passenger, side I get nothing, it won't come up. Obviously, the button on the arm rest door doesn't work either.

When I put the key in that door and turn it, I can only turn it a little bit, I fear i am going to break the key. But with that little bit of turn, I open the door handle and can get in. But when I do that, the lock 'knub' never comes up.

I really don't hear any noise coming from the passenger side.

Thanks, Amy

Hello – Amy

From what you are saying it does sound like the actuator. There is a test for the switch but even with the key fob, when transmitted it goes to the controller then to the actuator. Since the other door is working, I would think it is the actuator.

I can send you the test for the switch.

Also, if it were me, I would shoot 12v right to the actuator to see if it moved. If it is stuck that may be why it isn’t allowing the lock knob itself to move or the key to work very well.

The good news if you check those two things out and it is the actuator, it looks like Auto Zone may have your part for has your part for about $62 dollars – with tax that may be under your $70 desire!

Let me know if you want the check for the switch.

Last I appreciate the info on the car but is it a EX or LX Coupe?
