98 Honda Accord ex sedan, 167,000, it hesitated when I started it yesterday morning but ran fine all day, however this morning it will not start. It cranks and cranks, everything fine, lights, radios, power windows and such. Is this a bad starter and where is the starter located?

if the engine is turning over the starter is doing its job the things you want to look for next is finding out if there is fuel and spark going to the cylinders.... you might just try doing a basic tune up IE. replace the spark plugs and make sure the wires are in good shape, change the oil and filters (oil, fuel, air) and see if that dosent help any.... lemme know good luck :)

On top of the transmission, below the distributor. If you follow the battery positive cable you would come to it.

If you have trouble finding starter motor, just follow positive battery cable down engine compartment, it leads to the starter.

NOTE:
The factory sound system has a coded theft protection system. It is recommended that you know your reset code before you begin.

REMOVAL:
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the wiring harness from the starter motor.
Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the bracket on the starter motor.
Remove the starter cable from terminal B located on the back of the solenoid.
Remove the black/white wire from the S (solenoid) terminal.
Unfasten the two bolts that mount the starter to the transaxle assembly, then remove the starter from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION:
Install the starter in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the starter mounting bolts to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm) and the wire terminal nut to 7 ft. lbs. (9 Nm).
When installing the heavy gauge starter cable, make sure the crimped side of the terminal end is facing out.
Enter the anti-theft code and radio presets.

starters are on the side of the motor facing the transmission. yours maybe closer to the firewall to your car if its front wheel drive and easier to get to from underneath the car
