The driver side floor is wet. i dont know where it comes from but it isolated to an area that is away from the pedals and basically in the portion of the floor directly in front of the seat. if i leave the mat on the water collects on the bottom of the mat and fogs up the car. the leak must be minor because its not that wet but more moist and damp.

The leak could be coming from the moon roof drain hose, remove the driver's side kick panel (Plastic cover by your left foot, under dash) to inspect the drain hose and the drain valve connection. The drain hose should be connected to the drain valve.

Attached below is a drawing of where the drain goes

That can be coming in from many different places starting with the roof seam, rear window seal, side window seal, door seal, etc. The way you find it is to remove all the inside trim and look for the stain path or sit inside while someone sprays the car down.

There is cold water that drips from somewhere under the glove box. When I turn I can hear the water sloshing around. If I make a hard turn it will pour out near the gas pedal. The water is cold, so I am assuming that it is some type of drain from the a/c that a hose has either come loose or broken. Can anyong give me any hints?

There are two possibles. One - has it rained halfway recently or have you washed the car? There could be plugged drain on the air intake vent located on the outside of the car right below the windshield. Two - The air conditioner drain is plugged.

The a/c drain was plugged up with something. It wasn't the hose those. I pulled off the hose and it was clean. I used a straw and stuck it inside the part where the drain hose connects and sure enough the water started pouring out. Now if I can get my floorboard dry everything will be good to go!

Thanks for your help

96 accord has been water tested and came out clean. Seems to have this problem after torrential rain even when parked. It has been mentioned that it could be the heater coil. Water seems to be brownish in color. This problem has happened 2 times in the past year 5-6 months apart. Any ideas and if it is the heater coil approx what would the cost be to repair. Thanks

It's called a heater core.

And you must remove the whole dash which is over a 6hr job. The part itself isn't too much, so you are probably looking at around $600-$700 or so because you must flush the coolant system as well.

Is not the problem. There are drains under the windshield that get clogged with junk and leave the water no place to go. Take off the wipers and the plastic cover. You will see the drain holes. clear them out. Problem solved.

I wash it or it rains, there is water in the floor of the passenger side. It appears the drain system is clogged up. How can I get to it and clean it?

Right upfront, I have not worked on this model, however the basic problem usually lies in the drain for the wiper transmission drain. You may be able to access from the top by removing the cowl that covers where the wiper tranmission lies in, or may need to access it through the area behind the glove box. Maybe picture of the cowl would help if you want to try. Not sure how much help I be on this one. :|

Also, before getting into anything, I would use a hose and try to narrow down if in fact that is the leak source. It may be from a leaking windshield or other sources.

Hi playa132341,

That would indicate a leak somewhere and to confirm where the leak is coming from, you would have to flip up the carpet and do a water test with a garden hose to locate the source.

I Drive a 91 Honda Accord With a manual transmission. A couple of weeks ago i looked into the back seat and there was a puddle in the back passenger side. So i lifted the carpet pulled the plug from the middle and drained it. But the puddle keeps coming back and there has been constant rain. The door stuff is all great and nowhere water can come in from...is it leaking from inside...and from what? I also heard that it could be the sunroof? But the seals are perfect on that too.

I would suspect anything and not rule out anything. Go to a car wash and watch the water at door window and sunroof. You can also have a partner help out with a hose on the outside of the car.

I just noticed in the last week cold water leaking on floorboard, it leaks down onto my foot that is on the gas pedal. Same thing is happening on the passengers side but today quite a bit of water leaked onto this side. I also am hearing a sound from the vents on the passenger side, sounds like paper flying around in the vent. What good this be? Thank-you

Hi moeyannarizona,

The noise could be due to leaves, plastic or paper in the blower motor compartment.

The water could be condensation from the AC evaporator and it is flooding most probably due to a clogged drain hose.

Sounds like a plugged vent. Under the hood on the passenger side under the car there should be a tube that attaches to the vent. I believe there is also one to the A/C unit as well.

Recently when it rains water shows up in the carpet on the driver side only. This started about 2 weeks ago. It only leaks when it rains. It will soak up a large towel in just a few hours if raining hard. The car has a sunroof of which the seals look good. I pulled the plastic cover on the windshield and checked the seal, which looked good and without cracks. Are there any drains that run behind the fire wall that may be clogged or anywhere else I should look?

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,

For water leaks the best method to use is to lift up the carpets and use a garden hose to simulate rain by testing from the lower portion to the upper portion and watching for water entry.

Since you have a sunroof, check if the drain hose at kickpanel is dislodged and water is being channelled into the cabin. Check for dislodged wire harness grommets.

Hi hhendy,

Most probably the evaporator drain hose is clogged and condensation water collected in the evaporator housing is splashed out when making turns.

I have a 1990 Honda Accord with 152K on it. And it is retaining water in the passenger side floorboard, moreso in the rear passenger side. A mechanic told me that it is from the condenser and is overflowing the drip pan. so i think the drain in the drip pan may be clogged and i was wondering how to unclog it if possible. if anyone has any ideas please let me know. thanks alot

I offer this but it is not much. You need to go under the passenger side of the car, somewhere above the axle. There should be a tube hanging. You will need to push something like a wire up inside to breakup the obstruction. Don't be surprised if it plugs again and you have to repeat the process.

I have replaced taillight gaskets, two rubber gaskets behind the back bumper (took it through the car wash and had a friend look through the back seat to find out where it was coming from) and then theres a vent type thing on the driver side in the back that we also replaced. After all this took it back through the car wash and it still leaked. So we took all the carpet out of the car along with paneling and such. Found out that the leak was now coming from the front where the hood release cable went in the side panel. Now we have checked all of these again and non of them are leaking. We can not fine where it is leaking from. any suggestions. Oh and we have checked the sunroof drain pipes also.

It could be leaking from the windshield, spray lots of soapy water outside the windshield moldings and apply compress air inside around the windshield edges to see if there is any leak.

Hi blackbeard01449,

If you have not removed the distributor cap, take it off to dry out. Do not unplug the wires without marking them to avoid confusion when installing.
