1997 Honda Accord Help me! Please?

First, I have a 1997 Honda Accord.

When I put it in reverse and start backing up my car makes a strange noise. It's not quite a howl, but it's loud and only seems to do it when I turn my wheel to the right. *Trying to explain the noise is difficult, but it sounds like a medium pitched howl/scream along with some grind.

Secondly, when i would accelerate, it would make this clicking and squeal sound. It has gotten a whole lot worse over the passed two weeks. It now clicks and squeals when I accelerate, brake, everything. It's so annoying and loud.

What could it be?

Hi wallflower524,

The schreeching noise while reversing is most probably due to the the brake pads wearing out. The brake wear indicator is brushing aghainst the rotors producing the noise.

Squealing noises can only be causes by the drive belts and related parts. Check the drve belt conition and tensions.

As to the clicking noise, can you describe the noise in more details so I can understand what could be causing it.

It seems to be coming from the front of the car on the drivers side, but of course I can't be sure of that. At first I was certain it was coming from the tire, because it sounds like something hitting against metal.
It started out a couple of weeks ago as just a low squeal when I would accelerate. Now it's gotten louder and it's constant and there is an added clicking with the squeal. Also, it's not only when I accelerate, but also when I brake or am just coasting down the road, go over a hump, etc.

First you would need to check the brake pads.

The clicking noise during acceleration from engine at driver side could be due to a failing harmonic balancer. Check the crankshaft pulley for wavy movement while engine is running.
