Transmission problem
1992 Honda Accord Manual
Hi, the gear shift lever is free moving. I traced the two gear shift cables, through the firewall, to the transmission. I can move the driver's right side cable manually by manipulating the linkage bracket, on the side of the transmission. When I do this, in one direction, the gearshift lever will move backward. When I move the linkage shifter in the other direction nothing moves. I see the path of the two cables clearly. I also saw a holding bracket, for the two gearshift cables, mounted about 1/2 along the pathway. My question is: How do I replace the cable that appears to be broken? Does it unscrew at the shift lever and at the boot assembly at the transmission holding bracket? Do I need to replace both cables? Thank you, Randy
