I ran over a stop sign on the ice this morning--snapped it off and drove over the stump. I had to take it to a repair shop I'm not familiar with. They are telling me that the whole CV joint/boot is broken and needs to be replaced, and that there is wear on the other side, so it should be replaced, too, and they're estimating this will take between 400.00 and 500.00. Is it likely I broke the whole CV joint this way, and does the cost sound reasonable? Thanks for any and all advice and insight!
