Hole in driver’s side fender

I recently got into a small accident with someone, they hit my front fender which resulted in a large hole in it. There are lots of scratches but I am mainly concerned about if I can fix this myself. I am taking it to my friend’s shop tomorrow but I cannot afford a new car part.

He will probably sand it down to bare metal around the hole, or if it is a large hole weld some sheet metal that covers the hole, then sand down the weld, with coarse grit sandpaper, then work his way to around a 400 grit, then primer it and touch it up with the OEM color from perhaps a small touch up spray can, then top coat it with some clear.

Hello, I am Danny.

If you take to some body shops they will try to sell you a new urethane bumper and will not take the time to repair yours. Urethane bumpers can be repaired! My body guy here in CA has repaired my mothers car three times (accidents) urethane and painted/color matched for $250.00 each time. You can also try a wrecking yard for a replacement but not all times will it be a matching color. Good luck!

A good body and fender mechanic should be able to fix that, so make sure you take it to a body shop and not just a mechanic shop.
