Car runs for one or two minutes. Then the hold light starts to flash and no acceleration. Seems that the gear not shifting up gets locked. Scanner could not diagnose when model is entered, but the equivalent Mazda 323 throws the codes P0730 and P0328 (knock sensor one signal too large).

After erasing the memory only P0328 was generated. Road tested and scanned again. This time both codes appeared.

The fluid color was not good. I have drained the fluid now. Is it a solenoid problem? If so, which solenoid is faulty? Please reply.

unfortunately we do not have the laser or Mazda 323 in US, so we do not have those codes however the 730 code is probably not a solenoid if "fluid was no good" which i am assuming it dark brown or black, if it is like that the transmission is the problem and in need of an overhaul more than likely. we do not have the 328 code either, but that can be a bad sensor, wiring or PCM.

Thank you for your reply.

The colour of the fluid was light brown and flushed out. There was some amount of metal pieces around the magnet. Replaced with new oil and filter. There are 5 shift solenoids and a pressure solenoid. All are clicking during the test but C and E give weak clicks. Input speed sensor reads the correct ohms. I will check the VSS today. Other than the above checking are there still things to be suspected?

well l;ike the reply says you get all the solenoids not just one or two I still think it's a trans problem like clutch or seal but a trans guy should look at it as we don't have any info on this car

The car is fixed and running without problem for the last two months. What had happened was that one of the plastic like sealing rings on the end cover got damaged and there was not enough oil pressure. Also the metal part of the end cover protrusion had been scuffed a little. I don't know how this happened but I noticed the small protrusion of the thrash washer on the end cover broken and missing. I guess that the small broken piece got jammed between the walls.

I changed the end cover with a thrash washer of 1.2 mm thickness instead of the old one which was 2mm.

I hope this info may me helpful.

Thanks
