Hi! Sorry to disturb you again. I am actually working on a car with high gas idle. Is there a way to fix this?

Just to make sure I understand the issue, you have a high idle. The way you are describing it makes it seem like it could be another issue.

However, if the idle is high then we have a number of things we need to check.

We need to start by confirming the engine that you have. Is this a 3.6L V6 and does it have anything added to it like a turbo? You noted an engine that is not offered on this vehicle and there are no turbo options so if it was added to the engine then that will bring in some other possible causes.

The leading cause of a high idle is a vacuum leak. So here is a guide that will help with this:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

If we find no vacuum leak, then here is a guide that will take us to the next steps of high idle issues:

Lastly on this vehicle if there is an issue with the throttle system then there will be codes even if the check engine light is not on so let's check for codes.

Let me know about all this info and we can go from there.

Thanks

Yes, the turbo was added. But the client came to me with high idle problems. I tried to see if it was related to the turbo. I couldn't find anything.

Okay. That is good to know. If it has an added turbo, then we need a little more info on that. When was the turbo added? When did this issue start?

Basically, if someone added the turbo and altered the PCM software to compensate for the turbo then that could be causing the issue as well. However, if this has been installed for a couple years and this issue just started then it may still be related to the alteration but at least we know it is not as a result of them just adding it.

We need to check for codes and see what is there but let's start with more detail on the history or progression of this issue.

Thanks

Yes, the turbo was added a long time ago. They didn't have the problem back then. It's only a week now. The driver told me that sometimes he didn't have to press the gas after the start and the car started to go by itself. At first i thought it was stuck gas. But it's not stuck at all.

Okay. That is great info. This vehicle has an electronic throttle control so this could just be a throttle body or something more serious.

Are there any codes?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

I attached the info on the throttle body. I would inspect it and see if it is dirty. With it having a turbo on it now you are forcing more air so it could be dirty.

Thanks

No problem. We need to use a scanner to find out if there are codes in the PCM.

Here is a guide that will talk about this:

Or you can stop by a parts store, and they should be able to pull it for you.
