With vacuum hose connected 34 psi.
With vacuum hase disconnected 43 psi.

Most times, this is the result of a bad fuel pressure regulator. Here are directions for testing the regulator. Pic 1 attached correlates with the directions.

FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR CHECK

1. Stop engine and disconnect fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose from intake manifold.
2. Plug intake manifold with a rubber cap.
3. Connect variable vacuum source to fuel pressure regulator.
4. Start engine and read indication of fuel pressure gauge as vacuum is changed.
Fuel pressure should decrease as vacuum increases. If results are unsatisfactory, replace fuel pressure regulator.

Now, there are two different types of regulators that could be on this car. Because of the year, I believe it will an externally mounted one. See pic 2 for location and pic 3 for what it should look like. If you have a returnless system, it will be in the fuel tank and part of the fuel pump assembly. See pic 4.
