Yesterday during launch from 0 mph, I heard a loud pop and my clutch became instantly spongey and I could not shift the vehicle into gear. Over time the clutch, pull, and gears all went back to normal. The only problem I am having now is in first gear and reverse, the car chugs during launch. The only way I can avoid this is by giving an excessive amount of gas. I am going to do a full tune up today; change spark plugs, oil change, swap oil filters and air filters, fuel injector cleaner, all of the small things that could effect the pull. Throughout all of this, the check engine light and/or caution light never came on. What could it be? Do you have any recommendations for what I could do to fix it?

Hello,

First I would run the codes anyway because soft codes will not cause a check engine light but it can give us a clue to what the problem is. It kind of sounds like the clutch slave has gone bad. can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can see what's going on? that would be great. You can upload it here with your response.

Here is a guide to help you get the codes:

Please run down this guide and report back.
