So I bought a new car door remote (I got the car and it was missing), I went to go program the new one and I had the paper clip into pin 4 and I was about to insert it into pin 8 but my hand slipped and touched pin 16. A spark came out and now my power doors will not even work and I am afraid that I broke other things. Do you know why? Please help.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com. You shorted the system which caused the spark. Pin 4 is a ground and 16 is battery power. This should have blown a fuse, which is why the power door locks no longer work. The interior fuse block is under the dash in the center. I have attached a picture indicating its location. Next, there are two other pictures. They are of the fuse allocation as well as what each fuse does. Fuse 15 is the door lock fuse. That is the one I would focus on.

Here are general directions for fuse replacement:
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Once you find the fuse, you can check if it is good by using a test light. Here is a video related to how to use a test light which will be needed. In the video, he is actually checking fuses.

I hope this is helpful.

Take care,
Joe

I used a tester already and I found a 10 red fuse that is blown. I am going to replace it and hopefully it works. Thank you.

When I looked at the schematic, it was a 10 am fuse. Chances are, that is the problem. Let me know how it works out for you.
