Heavy steering and rough ride

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Have you checked power steering fluid? Since you noticed both stiff steering as well as a rough ride, have you checked to see if there is a broken coil spring on one of the front struts? Also, can you tell approximately where the noise is coming from? Do you hear it over bumps?

I attached a picture of a strut assembly. I highlighted the coil spring. Carefully inspect it for cracks or damage.

I’ll check the fluid and springs.

There is a rattling noise seems to be coming from just in front of the gear box but I need to get under the car to check.

The noise is louder in reverse and quietens when I pull away.
