blower motor resistor replacement?

When I have the air conditioner on or the fan only on the blower will switch from "blowing on the driver" to defrost and then back to "blowing on the driver". Two mechanics cannot figure out what the issue is as to why the fan switches by itself to a different setting. Could it be the "blower motor resistor"?

This sounds like the blower motor resistor needs to be replaced. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

It is located under the dash on the passengers side here is a diagram to show you how to replace it and where it is located. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Recently my air selector would only blow on high speed. I have rear air and it works fine. A week ago no fan speeds work but my rear air still blows and does get cold w/AC on. I replaced the entire panel and control with a great condition one from a salvage yard and it does the exact same thing. Any ideas? I checked all my fuses inside and out. Is it my blower motor?

Hello, Sorry you wasted your money on another panel. Under the hood on the passenger side firewall next to the shock tower is your Blower Motor Resistor. Replace it. That is the usual cause of only one or one fan speed going out at a time.
