When you turn the temperature to hot the air blows out the vent panel, turn the temperature on cold and the air blows out the defroster

Air flow is strong out defroster and weak out the vent panels.

Hello,

This sounds to me like you have the mode electrical connector and the temperature electrical connectors switched or the wires have a short between circuits. In the diagrams down below I have included the instructions for the removal and installation of the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning [HVAC] control unit and the electrical HVAC components in the diagrams down below. I have also included guides for shorts between electrical circuits, shorts to power, and shorts to grounds for you as well. You will need to use a Digital Multi Meter [DMM] to use these guides, so here is a link below explaining how to use one, if needed below:
