Temperature gauge not working properly

This is a little tough to tell for sure based on this as there are variables that can make it normal or an issue. It all depends on how large the hill is and how much it is rising. Also, if the ambient temperature is high then it can cause the engine temperature to rise when the engine is working harder like going up a hill.

Just hearing this, I would think it is normal if the truck never overheats but if it is not the most likely cause a restriction or failing water pump.

Can you get a video of what the needle does when you go up a hill so we can get a better idea if this is something to be worried about or needs addressed?
