My car has been running hot it has a new thermostat and no body can figure out why it is still running hot. so today we drove it and it ran hot, my son looked under the hood and the heater core hose was steaming, so he replaced it. now there's no water flowing in the hoses.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

When you say there is no water flowing in the hoses, are you referring to the heater hoses only? Did he bleed the system? Does it overheat if you are driving at highway speed, does it overheat or is it only in stop and go traffic?

I have to be honest, there are many things that can cause an engine to run hot. Things such as a plugged catalytic converter, rich fuel mixture, timing, and many others. I have to assume the people who checked it also inspected the radiator for excessive corrosion, blocked passages in the engine block and so on. Also, this vehicle would have come from the factory with a coolant called Dex-cool. If regular green coolant was mixed with it, that will cause serious cooling system issues.

Also, inspect the water pump for leaks. Here is a link that will help:

Let me know what you find.

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. I would also like to add a link on overheating.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-overheating-or-running-hot

But what I have seen also is the cooling system not properly bleed. I would recommend you buy a new radiator cap and watch this video link on bleeding the cooling system. I do it differently but this video is pretty good. Just ignore the fact he is using wrong coolant. Here is the link:

Watch "how to bleed coolant system 3.1/3.4 liter" on YouTube

Make sure all the air is bleed out the cooling system. Let us know if the information helps.
