Leaking coolant before heater core hoses?

Hi,

I suspect you are referring to the heater hoses. One side of the hoses goes to the heater core at the firewall under the hood. The opposite side goes to the engine. To access them, you need to remove the upper intake plenum.

I attached directions below. Note: The hoses need to be replaced if they leak and aren't serviceable.

The hoses are not leaking. The metal pipes to the engine are leaking, prior to the hoses. Are they replaceable? If so, what is the assy called?

Heater core is okay, hoses are okay. Is that an assy? Is it replaceable? Does it have a name?

What I believe you are referring to is the steel water pump inlet tube. Yes, it is replaceable. If you look at pics 1 and 2 below, let me know if that is what you are referring to.

If it is, I believe you will need to remove the intake manifold to replace it. Once it is off, there is one bolt holding it in place. If you do it, make sure the o-rings are in good condition and lubricate them with coolant before installing.

So, the water pump sends coolant to the heater core and coolant returns from the heater core to the water pump? The tube leaking - is it attached to the water pump or is it part of the water pump?

The steel pipe connects to the water pump and isn't part of it. The worst part of the job is removing the upper plenum (intake). Not that it's hard, it is a little time-consuming.

Is the pic I attached above the pipe you are referring to?

It looks like that pipe goes to some type of manifold. My pipe that is leaking is from the heater core hose to? The water pump?

I have added a picture that shows the heater core hoses running to the steel tubes. One or both of the tubes are leaking. Are these both connected to the water pump? The shop can’t find the part - the pipes. If they are not part of the water pump- is it possible to just run hoses from the water pump to the heater core? They would need to be shielded from the engine but is this a viable option? Or can replacement tubes be found?

The heater hoses connect to the engine via a manifold. They are not connected to the pump. As far as finding them, you may need to eliminate the quick connect and clamp them on both ends.

I was able to locate both the inlet and outlet heater hoses with the quick connect. See pics below.

I believe the manifold is leaking. Is that replaceable?

Hi,

Yes, it can be replaced, but you may have a hard time finding one. I don't believe they were manufactured by any aftermarket company, and Chrysler would have discontinued it by now. You may have to find one in a salvage yard.

Is the part cracked or where is it leaking from?
