Heater bypass hose

Just want to make sure I understand that you are talking about the heater core bypass hose? If not, please let me know which other hose you are referring to. Thanks

not entirely sure. Mechanic said heater bypass but after searching online it looks like that would be the heater core bypass He said it could need welding which makes me think its the core bypass as that seems to be the metal pipe at the back of the engine nearest the firewall. He said if it was the case its tricky to get to and would cost more. I assume because you have to either drop the motor out or strip it down?? The other hoses all appear to be rubber and fairly accessible. Does any of that help?

It does but if this were the case that it is a heater core or any other bypass hose, why not just replace it with a rubber replacement line? The only reason it would be metal is if it is in a place that gets hot and it could melt. However, they normally don't route these lines close to heat sources because they want to keep the coolant cool.

It may be necessary for him to show you what needs to be done because you should not have to remove the engine to do any of this. You may have to take a couple things out of the way to get the heater core bypass but it should be too much.

It just seems like something is getting lost between what he is saying and what you are thinking is the issue. That is part of his responsibility to make sure you understand.
