Hey BMW1S,

Does the engine temperature gauge reach operating temperature (needle in the center)?

From cold if you start the engine and remove the coolant expansion tank cap, look inside, do you have a steady flow of coolant into the bottle from the radiator return?

Hey BMW1S,

You are looking for circulation in the expansion tank which will show that you have a functioning water pump.

The potential other problems you could have is a blockage in the flow to the heater core inside the vehicle or could also have a problem with the heater valve the controls the flow. The interior blend motor could also be bad.

Let us know what you find with the water pump test.
