Hi,

Based on your description, it sounds like the blend air door actuator is going bad. The blend air door is what controls the air temp entering the vehicle. What I would suggest is to remove the actuator and then see if it moves when you change the temperature.

This actuator is located under the hood on the HVAC box. Here is a link that you may find informational. It explains in general how one is replaced. This will give you an idea of what you are looking for.

If you determine it is bad, here are the directions specific to your vehicle for replacement. The attached pics correlate with the directions.

Here are the directions.

My heat was working fine. After work I noticed it was blowing warm air in the upper vent and cold in lower. The vents that are around my feet and knees was cold. I tried every button and even the air and it did not change this. What the heck??
Thanks

For this concern you will need an advance scan tool to try and re-calibrate all the servos. That is the first step. If it does not calibrate then a fault code will set for the faulty servo. What you can try and it may or may not work is disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes. Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition switch on with out cranking the engine over for one minute. It may just do a self calibration on its own. Let us know if that resolves the issue. If it does not then you will need a professional shop to do the calibration with the scan tool.

Thank you. I just had to dump $2,800.00 into a month ago. The whole drive train thing took a crap. I am not a car person but it was a large unit that was too big to ship quickly and it sent the signal from the back to the front tires. I have never had any issues with this vehicle and purchased when it had 20,000 miles on it. Always kept the servicing up. Thinking maybe I need to get rid of it!

Went out with my family and the heater was working. When we got in the heater just stopped working. It started to blow cold air no matter how high or low it was it was still blowing cold. Could it be the Thermostat or the temperature blend door actuator?

Hi,

It could be either. First, is the engine coolant full? Second, if you have the engine running and the heater on, do both heater core hoses get hot? If they do and the coolant is full, chances are the blend air door is the issue. If only one heater gets hot and the other doesn't, then the coolant isn't flowing through the heater core. However, if the heat was working fine and then stopped, there is a good chance the blend air door is the issue.

Take a look through this link. See if it helps.

If you feel the blend door actuator is the problem, here is a link that shows in general how one is replaced:

Heater was blowing hot air yesterday, we went out last night and the heater was blowing cold air, temperature guage was at about 180 degrees but no heat. Played with the control to raise and lower temperature but it didn't make any difference. What should I look for?

Hello,

This sounds like you have a temperature blend door actuator what is out and needs t be replaced. This guide will give you an idea of what you are in for when doing the job.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-blend-door-motor

Also check the engine coolant level as well becasue if it is low the heater is the first thing to stop working.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-heater-not-working

Here is how it will be on your car (below) which show the blend door actuators locations.

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers

I have it warming up, there is so much plastic covering the motor it's hard to see anything, where are the hoses located? Not noticeable, the top hose is warmer but not too hot

Good afternoon,

I would check the coolant level to be sure the level is correct.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-heater-not-working

Also, I would replace the thermostat. That will cause low heat.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-thermostat

Lastly, it could be a clogged heater core. Remove the hoses from the firewall and run a garden hose back and forth in the core tubes until you get a even flow.

When you drive the car the temperature stays normal but as soon as you start stopping or stop the temperature gauge shoots up to the overheating line. I’ve replaced the thermostat and water pump and they work. I think it might be the radiator or the heater core, but I’m not sure. I don’t want to go out and pay $100.00 to $200.00 to get them installed. the car also has little to no heat blowing into the cab .so I’m not sure if it’s both the heater core and radiator or just one or nether of them.

If there is no heat in the cabin then you need to check the coolant level. As for overheating when coming to a stop it could be related to low coolant or the radiator cooling fan not coming on. If it is overheating that could cause coolant to overflow and cause your low coolant level or you have a leak.

Here are a couple of links on heater operation and what causes overheating:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-a-car-heater-works

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-overheating-or-running-hot

Check the coolant level and have the cooling fan motors checked for proper operation.

Make sure you remove the hoses from the core and flush with a garden hose.
