High beam on right works or low beam on left not

Have you checked the headlamp bulbs? These bulbs have a dual element in them which one can go bad and the other work. Basically, the low beam from the bulb can work and the high beam in the same bulb can fail and opposite.

I attached two pics below from the wiring schematic. Make sure the fuses you checked are the ones I circled in pic 1. They should be fine, but just confirm.

Next, look at pic 2. The wires I circled are the power supply. If you feel the bulbs are good, check for power to those wires. If there is power to all, switch the bulbs from side to side and see if they work the same way. If they do, replace the bulbs.

thanks Joe. my mechanic checked power supply and fuses, both okay, he suggested swapping out the switch where the signals and light control is. Did that. Still no good. Will have a look at the bulbs again trade them see what happens. I did buy new bulbs to start when I noticed the headlight out. possibly I was given wrong bulbs? any other ideas, much appreciated. What about this "smart entrance control unit" ? says it controls the lights? H.

hey Joe. just read my car manual. says to disconnect the negative battery cable before installing lights. could this be a factor? lol.. guess I will buy bulbs again and disconnect cable first! H.

If you upload a picture of the bulbs you are using, I will explain how to test them so you don't have to buy new ones. Also, did he check for power at the light sockets? If there was power, the switch isn't bad.

Thanks Joe appreciate your reply, bulbs are fine, power is fine, switch has been replaced, I am going to the pick-n-pull for a smart entrance unit. i did replace the ECM when i bought the car, so possible it is another circuit board failure. I doubt it is an electrical problem or I would have other issues and it makes no sense that I have one high and one low beam! lol.. any other ideas am all ears! Heidi

Heidi, when you checked for power at the light sockets, was there power when the bulb would have not normally worked? You mentioned there is power, so I'm questioning a ground or socket issue, or maybe I misunderstood. If you are good with wiring schematics, I will upload the entire lighting system for you, so don't be afraid to ask.
