Hi guys, I had my clutch replaced by a licensed mechanic upon testing it. The starter motor made a ticking noise, so it was replaced. I now have another problem my headlights and windscreen wipers don't turn off.
My mechanic is confused, and I don't know what he's done to cause this because everything was fine and just needed a clutch replacement.
Any ideas would be a great help.
Thank you

Hello,

First get your mechanic to check fuse F7, 5A, on the side of the battery fuse box.
This fuse box is directly attached to the rear of the battery. Fuse F7 is usually covered by a small rubber cap.

See image below, check item 4+5.

Hope this helps.

Hi Boris, thank you so much for your quick reply.
The mechanic has checked the fuses mentioned but are in good working order.
The lights and wipers come on and so does the battery indicator on dashboard a minute later after van has been turned on.

The van has to be turned off for them to stop.

The battery is charging fine and there are no codes coming up on the diagnostic scanner. What would be the next step?

Hello,

The headlights, wipers and charging are controlled by the Auxiliary Body Control Module, XBCM. The unit is located to the left of the clutch pedal.
See image below

This unit is not serviceable.

You could try and replace it with a secondhand unit but as it needs to be programmed to your vehicle it will have limited functionality, and the Stop/Start system will not work. A used module cannot be programmed again. But this will prove the old XBCM is faulty.

Hello,

I have not heard of any XBCM cloning, we only program new units.

It would be interesting to know if this is possible.

Please keep us posted.
