Headlights not working properly

when driving at night. Headlights go out . Dash lights blink off and on.Then headlights come back on . It has automatic lights switch.

Ford has a recall for the lighting control modules in these cars. You can call your local Ford dealer with your vin number and they will let you know if your vehicle has had it done and if it applies to your car. Recall Number

Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles manufactured October 3, 2001, to August 2, 2005. The affected vehicles have a lighting control module (LCM) that may fail, resulting in a loss of headlights.

Consequence
A loss of headlights can reduce driver visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

What Owners Should Do
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the LCM, free of charge. The recall began April 14, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S39.

Replace lighting control module by Ford Dealer . No headlights come on.

I have seen the headlight switch go out in these. To be sure here is a guide to check for power loss with the headlight wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works and which wires to test. Also there are 6 fuses that run the system which need to checked as well.
