Headlight Release Tab?

In the 2014 F150 headlight video on YouTube that you guys have. There is a brown release tab that you push, and the headlight comes out. When I was switching them that little piece holding both parts together snapped off. Is that going to be an issue going forward since it’s not snug with the connecting part?

Thanks,
Brandon

Hi Brandon, do you mean the retainer is broken? If that is the case, it will likely allow the light assembly to move around which can certainly be an issue.

If possible, take a picture of what has broken and upload it for me to see.

Take care,

Joe

I unscrewed it afterwards and it seems like it’s fine without the missing tab. It was on there pretty good and took some force to take the brown part off the end of the bulb. I think I’m going to leave it.

Hi,

It should be fine. I was thinking it was the light assembly itself that was damaged. Sorry about that.

It should stay on. If you find it doesn't, take a thin, small zip tie and route it through the area where the retainer pin was located. That should prevent the release from being pressed and hold it in place.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

See pic below. Route a zip-tie through the area that I circled in red. That should prevent the retainer from moving outward and releasing.
